Ah yes the question you hear forever and back to and fro. Where to host my websites? There is a simple answer – Host them where you get the best service! They are all priced about the same. Do beware of some of the cheaper company offers though. They can be downright piss poor.
One more major note to be aware of! Do not take advantage of the ‘We will register a domain for you’ offers when you go to do webhosting. There have been a rash of problems with this type of setup. When you do this you are giving away your idea for a domain name to someone else. If they, they being the hosting company, register the domain then they own it. Not you. They are renting it to you for the most part. I have seen endless heartache over people being sucked in by the lure of a free domain registration. Really? Come on people its only a few bucks a year. Suck it up and register your domain, then find a webhosting company and never the two shall meet. Keep them separate! Would you let your cat loose in the local pet store birdcage? No? Then dont let your webhosting company loose in your domain repertoire.
OK with all that being said I personally use Hostgator to host all my domains. They are legit, they offer good service and value for what you get. One caveat – Once you get more than a few domains you may need to upgrade. Shared hosting is not for hundreds of sites. More on that later.
